3rd INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PHILOSOPHY
ATHENS, GREECE

 

The Philosophy Research Unit of the Athens Institute for Education and Research (AT.IN.E.R.) organizes its 3rd international conference on Philosophy, 2-5 June 2008. For the program of the previous conference and other information visit the conference website www.atiner.gr/docs/Philosophy.htm

  There are two types of registration fees. First, a simple registration fee of 250 euro, covering access to all sessions, 2 lunches, coffee breaks and conference material. Second, a full registration fee of 450 euro, covering access to all sessions, 2 lunches, coffee breaks and conference material, a Greek night of entertainment, a dinner, a half-day tour to archaeological site in the Prefecture of Attica and a special one-day cruise in the Greek islands. Special arrangements will be made with local hotels for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate.

 The aim of the conference is to bring together scholars and students of philosophy. Sessions will be devoted to

Seventh Congress of the International Society for the History of Philosophy of Science Vancouver

The International Society for the History of Philosophy of Science

(HOPOS)

will hold its seventh international congress in Vancouver, Canada, June 18-21, 2008.  The conference is open to scholarly work on the history of philosophy of science from any disciplinary perspective.

 

Submissions of abstracts of papers of approximately 25-30 minutes'

reading length, and of symposia of three to four thematically related papers will be considered for the program.

 

Proposals for papers should include:

- title and abstract of the paper (maximum 500 words);

- address of the participant, including e-mail, phone, and institution.

 

Proposals for symposia should include:

- title of symposium;

- symposium summary statement (maximum 500 words);

- titles and abstracts of papers (maximum 500 words for each paper);

- address of each participant, including e-mail, phone, and institution;

- identification of symposium organizer, who will serve as contact person.

 

The language of the meeting is English.

All submissions must be received by 15 December 2007.

Notification of acceptance of submissions will be provided by 1 March 2008.

Required format for all submissions is plain ASCII text or RTF attachment submitted by electronic mail to hopos-2008@interchange.ubc.ca with "HOPOS

2008 Submission" in the subject line of the email.

The Sixth Annual ISNS Summer Conference will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana on 19-22 June, 2008 in the Hotel Provincial, 1024 Chartres Street, right in the French Quarter:  http://www.hotelprovincial.com/   We will be sending information about the hotel rates and conference costs in a separate email.
    We are issuing a call for panels.  Anyone who is interested in organizing a panel at the conference should send a brief description of the panel along with its title and the name(s) and email address(es) of the contact person(s) to: john-finamore@uiowa.edu

    We will send the call for abstracts for these panels on 15 February.
    Panel organizers are responsible for collecting the abstracts and choosing those for inclusion in their panels.  They should notify us of their decisions by 31 March.  In the beginning of April, we will announce the panels and issue a call for papers not associated with any panel.

    We hope you will be able to join us in New Orleans and participate in the conference.
