CENTER FOR THE STUDY OF CULTURE AND VALUES
GRADUATE PROGRAMS
Rebuilding the world for the 21st century requires that many countries build or rebuild their tertiary education. This is not simply a matter of importing ideas or technical competency specialists, but of creatively developing the life of their people at all levels, physical, social and spiritual.
Unfortunately in our highly rationalist modern context, education in the various physical and social sciences generally trains young scholars to abstract from their cultures. There is need therefore to train at least some scholars in each discipline so they may attend to their cultural heritage in their work.
The Center for the Study of Culture and Values is devoted to enriching graduate specialization in the various fields with the hermeneutic interests and competencies that will enable students' specialized abilities to assist in the life of their people and the evolution of their culture. Through its university base and its research teams in different regions of the world, the CSCV is able to assist in the identification and selection of prospective candidates for advanced degrees and provide workshops that enable them to develop competencies to relate to their cultural heritages. The center will ultimately assist scholars with reinsertion to their home region through the teams located there.
One professor thus trained in each department of a university can enrich all his or her colleagues and students with the bibliographical and methodological tools that relate the work of a university, government or non-governmental organization to cultural resources.
