The 2005 seminar of The Council for Research in Values and Philosophy (RVP) on  Symbols in Cultures and Identities in a Global Interaction” has been completed on November 10, 2005. The following is the list of paper presentations (in draft) which will be published as a volume by the RVP. If you would like to contribute your own thought on this theme, please send your paper as an email attachment to cua-rvp@cua.edu by March 1, 2006. For further information please visit www.crvp.org.

(4) The third session papers were by Prof. Andrew Ifeanyi Isiguzo "African Culture and Symbolism: A Rediscovery of the Seam of a Fragmented Identity" and Prof. Joseph Abah, Oct. 6, 2005

(5) The fourth session papers were by Prof. Ahmad Kazemi Mousavi "The Role of Ritual in Shi'ite Muslim Community of Iran," Prof. Adel Sarikhani "Symbol and symbolic outlook to Ashura event in the time of Globalization," and Prof. Karim D. Crow, Oct. 13, 2005.

(6) The fifth ses sion papers were by Prof. Geeta Manaktala "Culture as Possibility of Symbolic Meaning " and Prof. Nerijus Milerius "Religious Cinema: from the Visible to the Invisible," Oct. 20, 2005 (University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky).

(7) The sixth session papers were by Prof. M. John Farrelly "Symbolically mediated revelation and Cultural Change in Judaeo-Christian Scripture" and Prof. Michal Reka "Creative Power of  Symbol  in The Final Revolution : Solidarity," Oct. 26, 2005.

(8) The seventh session papers were by Prof. D. Balaganapathi "Richness Of Indian Symbolism And Changing Perspectives" and Prof Hoang Thi Tho "Vietnamese Buddhism in Intercultural Communication: the Aspect of Buddhist Philosophy,"  Oct. 27, 2005.

(9) The nineth session papers were by Prof. John Kromkowski, Prof. Dvoretskaya Ekaterina "Personal Approach to Symbolic Reality," and Prof. Yaroslav Pasko "The Influence of Symbolic Tradition on the Processes of Contemporary Ukrainian Transformation: Ukraine in the Context of European Experience," Nov. 3, 2005.

(9) The eighth session paper was by Prof. David Power "Symbolic Codes in an Age of Globalization," Nov. 8, 2005.

(11) The tenth session papers were by Prof. Marilyn Merritt "Language and Discourse as Resources for the Socialization and Social Construction of Identities" and Prof. Liubov Chetyrova "Who Are You, Friend Of Steppes, Kalmyk? (Ethnic And Cultural Identity Of The Kalmyks)," Nov. 9, 2005.

(12) The seminar was concluded with a celebration at the Seminar Study House on Nov. 10, 2005.
