Seminar I: The Crisis of the Modern World

 

The End of the Modern World

 

October 18 and November 1, 2021,  6.00pm-7.30pm (Germany Time)

 

 

The End of the Modern World, one of Guardini's classical work, analyzes the cricise of our modern society, especially the European civilization after the two world wars. It outlines the relationship between human beings and the divine in medieval times in comparison with the human consciousness and understanding in modern era. Specially it studies how modern men/women relate and understand themselves with their own being in terms of nature, culture and subjectivity; how science and technology are only instrumental diveses which cannot solve all human conundrums; how the exercise of power cannot shy awary from human responsibility...
